Atlanta bars host Cinco de Mayo parties

Celebrate Mexican heritage

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican unlikely military victory over French forces at the 1862 Battle of Puebla. Despite popular belief, May 5 isn’t Mexico’s Independence Day. That day actually falls on September 16. Americans have made the holiday a real favorite, and there are plenty of themed events going on throughout the city’s bars and clubs to honor Mexican culture and heritage. Plus, who doesn’t like Mexican beer?

Papi’s Cinco de Mayo Parking Lot Fiesta kicks off at 6 p.m. at Las Margaritas, followed by a special Café Con Leche after party at 10 p.m. at the Heretic.

DJs 5 Hour Boner and Sam Roth Stein will spin at Mary’s starting at 9 p.m. at the bar’s ‘Run for the Border’ theme night.
