Fans wait in sweltering heat for moment to talk to fabulous funny woman

Chelsea Handler makes her mark at Outwrite

Chelsea Handler swooped into Outwrite Bookstore & Coffehouse right at 6 p.m. on Friday and was greeted by a round of applause from the people lucky enough to be inside the air conditioned store to meet her — there were dozens others lined up outside in the sweltering heat waiting for their chance to get inside the packed store.

After being rushed to a seat and desk, Handler immediately began signing her book, “Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me” and other favorites fans brought. So, no welcoming words to her Atlanta fans on this trip, but she did take the time to talk to each person seeking an autograph. She was also on a tight deadline. At 8 p.m. she was set to take the stage at Chastain Park as part of her “Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me” tour with other comedians regularly seen on her namesake late night show on the E! network. She was on a return visit after postponing a June date at the same venue after becoming ill.
