We tried a variety of crepes, most around $9-15, and the portions are ample. I had the scrumptious, savory smoked salmon crepe with tangy goat cheese, tomato, and cucumber dill sauce all enrobed in a light crepe. Todd had the most expensive, decadent Oscar crepe with rare beef tenderloin, crab meat and asparagus, drenched in rich béarnaise sauce.
You just have to get desert at a crepe place, plus they serve French pressed coffee. We shared the bananas foster crepe with rum sautéed bananas, pecans and brown sugar, folded in a warm sweet crepe and crowned with fresh whipped cream. Fierce.
Other noteworthy places along the Perimeter
I love Joey D’s Oak Room near Perimeter Mall. If you want huge portions of scratch made food, served up with slick consistent service in a political clubby environment, this is the place . My hero Rachel Maddow would eat here. I think my name was Reuben in another life because I love them. Joey’s has the biggest best Reuben complete with flown in NY Carnegie deli corned beef, kraut, and a thick layer of melted Swiss. Also try their addictive crispy crescent rolls glazed with honey butter; dry aged steaks; and enormous salads. I was stuffed. You’ll hobnob with the Dunwoody crowd.
Slightly inside the Perimeter is one of Atlanta’s first farmer’s markets, Your DeKalb Farmers Market. This is not a polished Whole Foods but you’ll find a huge eclectic selection of global fare that is very fresh and affordable compared to many other Atlanta groceries.
They also have an excellent cafeteria with extremely fresh fare. This cafeteria is a vegan’s dream. I had house-made spinach lasagna along with their enormous salad bar and sampled some scratch-made samosas, Indian savory pastries filled with potatoes and other fresh veggies. Then we bought very affordable gourmet cheeses, seafood and yummy fruit-filled croissants. It’s bohemian fabulous.
If you haven’t been to LeBuzz, the gay club in Marietta, and haven’t seen Nicole Paige Brooks, you better be careful because they might take your gay card away. Owner Johnathan Murphy was an integral part in Marietta Pride. In the same shopping center is the most flavorful Jerusalem Bakery. There’s also one on Old Milton Parkway and they serve a large selection of fresh Middle Eastern fare. I’ve sampled the smoked eggplant spread and meat pies with savory filling ensconced in a flakey pastry. I love their ample-sized falafel, which is a chickpea fritter with Mediterranean spices sandwiched in fresh made pita.
