Singer Faith Evans, star of the reality TV show “R&B Divas” and the widow of Notorious B.I.G., received the Humanitarian Award from the Vision Community Foundation during Sunday’s Pure Heat fest in Piedmont Park as part of the weekend-long activities celebrating Atlanta’s Black Gay Pride.

Evans sang tunes to a packed and happy crowd after receiving the award from Bishop O.C. Allen and his life partner, Rashad Burgess. Allen is founder of the Vision Church of Atlanta and the CEO of the Vision Community Foundation. The Pure Heat fest is a collaboration between the foundation and Traxx Girls.

Thousands of people packed Piedmont Park to celebrate Black Gay Pride for the third annual festival that included many corporate sponsors, food vendors, retailers and nonprofit organizations such as Georgia Equality, AID Atlanta and the Human Rights Campaign.

Seen at the fest were state Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta) and openly gay state Rep. Keisha Waites (D-Atlanta).
