If you tell the comedians who take the stage this evening that Atlanta’s official Pride festival isn’t until October, they’ll probably laugh at you.

Gay Pride comedy festival at Eddie’s Attic tonight

Pride month is observed in June to mark the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, when patrons of the Stonewall Inn, a New York City gay bar, fought back against police harassment. The rebellion is frequently seen as the launch of the modern gay rights movement, and in 1970, activists in cities around the country began holding marches and rallies during the last weekend in June to commemorate it.

The Atlanta Pride Committee moved its festival to October, but Eddie’s isn’t moving its annual Pride show. The 13th annual event is again hosted by Alyssa Barnett and Jessica Rose.

Other performers for this year’s show are Vivian Alford, Mindy Dawn Friedman, Sanders Hulsey, Erica Ray and Barbara Steel.
