Tomorrow’s event was canceled when state lawmakers changed their schedule for the week, said Melinda Morgan, Georgia Equality operations director.
“The legislative calendar has changed several times in the past few weeks. We canceled Lobby Day after a calendar change indicated they would not be in session on Wednesday, March 24th. Just yesterday, Monday, March 22nd, they put the 24th back on the calendar,” she said. “We are rescheduling Lobby Day, most likely to be late April, and will notify everyone as soon as we have the details.”
Georgia Equality’s top priority this year is a bill aimed at curbing bullying in schools. The measure, sponsored by Rep. Mike Jacobs (R-Atlanta), was tabled earlier this month by the state House.
Georgia Equality also joined in a March 10 lobbying day with the ACLU of Georgia and MEGA Family Project.
