Georgia legislators fail HRC’s 112th Congressional Scorecard

In the Senate, 22 scored 100 percent, including seven from states with marriage equality and five from ballot measure states.

The number of Senators with a zero percent score decreased from 32 last Congress to 14 this year, but disturbingly in the House, the number of zeroes dramatically increased from 144 to 219.

Georgia Sens. Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Iskason, both Republican, received scores of 15 percent.

Republican congressmen from Georgia rated by the HRC largely received scores of zero percent. The one exception was U.S. Rep. Paul Brown (R-Ga. 10), who received a score of 15 percent.

Of Georgia Democrats, Reps. John Lewis and Hank Johnson both received perfect ratings. Rep. David Scott received a rating of 80 percent, while Rep. Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. was given 30 percent. Rep. John Barrow, a Democratic congressman from Georgia’s 12th district, was given a score of zero. Barrow is one of the Democratic Caucus’ most conservative members.
