Get cookin’ at Outwrite

Hugh Acheson signs his debut cookbook, “A New Turn in the South,” at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse. The event is the last book-signing currently scheduled at Outwrite’s location at 991 Piedmont Ave., Atlanta, GA 30309.

The landmark LGBT bookstore announced earlier this month that it will move from its location at the corner of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue, due to financial shortfalls that make it impossible to pay rent at the popular spot. Outwrite plans to remain open in the current store through the holidays, unless a new location is found more quickly; no new home has been announced to date.

Acheson competed in “Top Chef Masters” season three on the Bravo network, and is a judge on “Top Chef” season nine. He is chef and partner in three Georgia restaurants: Five & Ten and The National in Athens, and Empire State South in Atlanta.

“A New Turn in the South” was released Oct. 18 and promises “Southern flavors reinvented.”
