LGBT families gather in gay Atlanta’s backyard this afternoon

Great day for a Piedmont Park picnic

Join LGBT families this afternoon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a free picnic in Piedmont Park.

The event is hosted by The Roy G. Biv Project, which focuses on gay families, as well as Pride at Six Flags and Twee of Traxx Girls.

Organizers will provide free hotdogs, hamburgers, baked beans, lemonade and tea. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and any other food they would like.

The families will gather in Piedmont Park near the playground by the pool and lake. A rainbow umbrella and rainbow flags will mark the spot.

“This is the best time to mingle, network, laugh, share stories, and have a good time. Bring the family, and the pets too!” organizers said on a Facebook page announcing the event.
