Atlanta offers up plenty of gay-friendly theater options today

Hey, drama queens!

Tis the season for holiday cheer for the theater queers, as we like to say. Well, only one performance this weekend is specifically tied to a holiday “Christmas” with tonight’s closing performance of “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” at the Fox Theatre.

Openly gay actor Erick Devine stars as gruff General Waverly in the the first national tour of the musical and he says it will appeal to gay and straight audiences.
“We tend to appreciate the classics,” he says in an interview with GA Voice. “I think gay and lesbian audiences appreciate nostalgia. Also, the songs are amazing, as is the dancing, and all the hot men and women on stage doesn’t hurt.”
