BREAKING: Idaho gay marriage ban struck down

A federal judge struck down Idaho’s gay marriage ban tonight. U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy Dale said her decision would go into effect on Friday morning, unless put on hold by a higher court.

“Plaintiffs suffer these injuries not because they are unqualified to marry, start a family, or grow old together, but because of who they are and whom they love,” Dale said in her ruling.

Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter vowed to appeal the decision.

“Today’s decision, while disappointing, is a small setback in a long-term battle that will end at the U.S. Supreme Court,” Otter said in a statement.

Otter could be right, but time will tell if the highest court in the land will rule in the way that he hopes for.
