Frontwoman Elly Jackson and bandmate Ben Langmaid bring their unique electro pop to Atlanta

La Roux rocks the Tabernacle

The doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Tabernacle, 152 Luckie Street, Atlanta, GA  30303, www.livenation.com.

Jackson is the face of the La Roux, and the name is a nod to her red hair and androgynous style.

“The songs are all about my life, and I’m the front woman, and I am ‘La Roux’ – but in the studio, we are a band and it’s like Goldfrapp.I mean, I am La Roux – but we are La Roux at the same time. It’s kind of confusing…” Jackson told the Nottingham Post last year.

“To me, it means ‘red-haired one’ – and it does, vaguely. It’s just a male version of ‘red-haired one,’ which I think is even cooler, because I’m well androgynous anyway. So it kind of makes sense,” Jackson said.

Lesbian fans have been known to throw their bras on stage, but Jackson says that despite her look, she’s not gay.

“It’s the fact that they think I want their bras — that’s what’s weird about it. One girl in Toronto stood there for ages with her boobs out. Everyone just thinks I’m a raging lesbian and I want to see everyone’s boobs. Sorry, I’m not,” she told Heat magazine,” according to the lesbian blog AfterEllen.com.

The new remix of the La Roux song “In for the Kill,” which features Kanye West, is currently available on iTunes and Amazon.

Tonight’s concert is followed by an after-party sponsored by Barry Brandon, Bill Kaelin, Team B and Duh Gays! with DJ Sydney Slain. 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. at Aurum, 915 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309, www.facebook.com/barrybrandon.
