Long-running CBS reality show “Big Brother” has its first transgender contestant, and she hails from the good ol’ ATL. Audrey Middleton, a 25-year-old media consultant from Villa Rica, will join 13 other contestants on the show when Season 17 kicks off on June 24.
CBS confirmed that Middleton is trans in a statement to E!, saying, “Audrey Middleton is a Big Brother super fan who applied online, like many other hopeful Houseguests, and was open about her transition in the application process. It is customary for Big Brother Houseguests to share personal news inside the house, and Audrey plans to discuss her story with the Houseguests in her own words during the premiere episode on Wednesday, June 24.”
This should be an interesting addition to the show, not the least of which is the fact that the last few seasons of the show have been rife with contestants dropping homophobic and racist comments.
Middleton describes herself in her CBS bio as “radical, fun and intelligent” with “nerdy hobbies” like astrology. She loves the outdoors but also loves to dress up and go out.
“I like to put a lot of effort into my appearance,” she says. “Not in a superficial way, but it’s one of the most fun forms of self-expression for me. Fabulous hair, lashes, makeup, I’m the Beyoncé of my life story.”
She also compares herself to Dexter Morgan, the serial killer at the center of Showtime’s “Dexter,” saying, “I will not float. I will make bold moves and I will get blood on my hands. Heads will roll!”
