This week we have two covers  — a special commemorative cover celebrating Black Gay Pride and the other highlighting our extensive Fall Preview coverage

New print editions hit the streets tomorrow

Be sure to pick up the Georgia Voice tomorrow when it hits the streets  — and this week we present you with two special covers.

To commemorate Black Gay Pride this weekend, we printed a special cover for the weekend. Stars such as Ciara, Nicki Minaj, Melba Moore, Fantasia and Kelly Rowland will be making appearances all weekend. This week’s newspaper includes an interview with Tony Award winner Melba Moore.

Our second cover this weekend highlights our extensive Fall Preview coverage on theater, events, music, TV, film and dining. Get the hookup on what’s coming up as the end of summer comes to a close.

Other stories of interest this week:

• Police continue to seek suspects in the shooting of Durand Robinson, the Traxx promoter who was shot and killed on Aug. 25 and coverage of a touching candlelight vigil that was held in his honor.

• The Atlanta Police Department names who is on its new LGBT Advisory Board as well as state it is seeking to appoint a second LGBT liaison.

• Savannah will hold its first Queer Power March on Sept. 10, the day before the 11th annual Savannah Pride and an update on the two U.S. Marines accused of an alleged gay bashing who will not be charged with a hate crime after the FBI concluded its investigation.

• The one-year anniversary of the raid on the Atlanta Eagle is approaching and the gay leather bar will hold a ceremony, customer appreciation day and special Orange Party to commemorate the occasion.

Of course we have our Best Bets on what to do over Labor Day weekend and well as a special pull-out calendar for Black Gay Pride.
