Nickiemoto’s in Midtown to shutter its doors

Well, sushi may not be the favorites for many over Thanksgiving weekend, but if you love Nickiemoto’s in Midtown now is the time to get there and enjoy one of their last meals.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported Monday that the restaurant, located across the street from Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse — and is a favorite of gay diners — will close Dec. 12.

“An employee at the pan Asian and sushi restaurant at 990 Piedmont Ave. NE confirmed the restaurant’s last day will be Dec. 12. The restaurant opened in 1998,” the ABC reported.

For years, Nickiemoto’s has hosted a popular drag show on Mondays — “Dragamaki” — featuring local drag legends Bubba D. Licious, Diamond Monroe and Alexandria Martin, who will soon be leaving Atlanta for her home in Wichita, Kansas.

The restaurant’s parking lot along with neighbor Zocalo’s parking lot have been popular places to also Pride parade as it rounds the “gayest corner in Atlanta” on its way to Piedmont Park.

There is no news yet on what will replace the space.
