As thousands of Michigan, Louisville, Witchita State and Syracuse college basketball fans made their way into the Georgia Dome on Saturday, they were confronted by the unmistakable anti-gay picket signs frequently paraded outside of LGBT events and U.S. military funerals by Westboro Baptist Church.

Around eight members of the Westboro Baptist Church protested in Atlanta over the weekend outside of the Georgia Dome during the NCAA Basketball Final Four tournament. Shirley Phelps-Roper is the matriarch of Westboro Baptist Church and daughter of church founder Fred Phelps.

UPDATED: Fired Atlanta Eagle raid officer wins appeal to get job back

Former Atlanta Police Sgt. Willie Adams, a supervisor of the unconstitutional raid on the Atlanta Eagle, won an appeal in court today in his attempt to get his job back with the APD.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kelly Lee ruled in Adams’ favor in his attempt to get back on the Atlanta police force where he was a 20-year veteran before being fired in the midst of the Eagle raid scandal. His firing was upheld in 2011 by the city’s Civil Service Board and then appealed to court.

Trans woman alleges abuse by Savannah police, jail officials

A transsexual woman arrested April 7 in Savannah, Ga., is claiming she was harassed by police officers after she was charged with indecent exposure.

A police report from the Savannah Police Department states Ashley Del Valle, who said she was visiting Savannah from New York, had her breasts exposed and nipples showing.
