[Video] Tempers flare during NAACP panel discussion on LGBT issues

CNN anchor Don Lemon, who recently came out as gay, moderated a panel discussion on black LGBT issues during the annual National Association for the Advancement of Colored People conference in Los Angeles over the weekend. Panel participants included out comedian Wanda Sykes, civil rights activist Julian Bond and other leaders in the black gay community and focused on a wide variety of topics from homophobia and hypocrisy in the black church to reaching out to allies in the community.

The two hour discussion was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the organization’s 102nd annual conference.

65-year-old singer and icon Cher (too fabulous for a last name) erupted in gay-allied fury all over Minn. Rep. and presidential contender Michele Bachmann. Cher tweeted on Sunday night:

Small Ga. newspaper calls gays who want to marry ‘perverts’

Georgia Equality issued an action alert this afternoon over a column in the Sandersville Progress and other Georgia newspapers written by Robert Tribble called “You Might Be A Liberal If…” The column takes several pot-shots at left-wingers and goes as far as to call gays and lesbians wishing to marry “perverts.”

Tribble is the owner of several Georgia newspapers including the Sandersville Progress and the Fayette County News.

Alliance Defense Fund to Gwinnett schools: Don’t be bullied by ACLU’s ‘radical sexual agenda’

The Alliance Defense Fund is taking on the ACLU in its fight to get Gwinnett County schools and other schools across the country from filtering LGBT websites to students.

While the ACLU argues that filtering LGBT websites prohibits students attending schools in the Atlanta suburb from such websites as the “It Gets Better Project,” the Georgia Safe Schools Coalition, Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), GSA Network, and the Gay Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN), the ADF protests that lifting the filter would allow students easy access to pornographic websites.
