But Katey Red, Sissy Bounce queen from New Orleans, showed everyone who packed into My Sisters’ Room what it means to party and shake your booty. With her dancers and her vibrant music, the crowd was bouncing in unison through her whole set — definitely one of the highlights of this year’s Mondo Homo.

Mondo Homo

Mondo Cabaret

On Saturday at My Sisters’ Room, it was time for Mondo Cabaret with burlesque, boylesque and drag king performances as well as some amazing performance art. Following the cabaret, bands and spoken word artists took the stage with a dance party following at Mary’s. A giant penis made from recycled cardboard was also on display at Mary’s for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Mondo Homo

Dance Truck and park day

Several performers danced at Cabbagetown Park as part of the “Dance Truck is sooooo gay” portion of Mondo Homo on its Sunday park day. Artists would begin their dance routine in the bed of a pickup truck and then move to the street and sidewalk for a unique experience. Aerial artists and some good ol’ relaxing at the park was the way to wrap up Mondo Homo’s fifth year.
