Georgia’s HIV Unit faces severe problems distributing medicine funding
AID Atlanta is chiming in on the problems within Georgia’s HIV Unit, including major red tape when it comes to distributing funding to HIV-positive patients who need help to pay for their medications.
In an Atlanta Journal-Constitution story published Sunday and headlined “HIV aid pipeline clogged by state,” reporter Chris Joyner talks to one patient, Alpha Goodshepherd, who was recently cut off his HIV meds after his insurance was canceled.
‘Gay Icon’ Ann Coulter joins GOProud’s advisory board
GOProud, a Republican LGBT political organization, announced today that it has named columnist and liberal-hater Ann Coulter to its advisory board.
Coulter has a history of anti-gay statements and does not support marriage equality – at least not publicly.
“Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, chairman of GOProud’s board, in a statement released on GOProud’s website.

If there was any doubt that the alleged fifth accuser in the Eddie Long gay sex scandal is gay, there is no doubt now.
Centino Kemp, who is believed to be the fifth young man to accuse Long of using his position as head of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church to sexually coerce them in exchange for lavish gifts and exotic trips, appeared on Kandi Koated Nights on Wednesday.
[Updated] Proposed Ga. redistricting maps pit gay state representatives against gay rights allies
The Georgia General Assembly will meet in a special legislative session to begin Monday to discuss redistricting, among other topics, and two of the state’s three openly gay legislators may be in the crosshairs.
Already a proposed legislative map is being discussed in public. State Rep. Stacey Abrams (D-Atlanta), the House Minority Leader, has accused the Republican-controlled legislature of pitting black Democratic state House representatives against white Democrats. Abrams, who is black, said Republican lawmakers are “purging the state of Georgia of white Democrats,” a charge GOP leaders deny. The full map will be released Friday.
Out on Film announces opening, closing pictures
Out on Film, Atlanta’s LGBT film festival, announced this morning a double-feature opening when the festival kicks off on Sept. 29. This year, “The Sleeping Beauty of East Finchley” and “Going Down in La-La Land” will open the week-long festival while “Judas Kiss” will be the final film shown.
“We are very excited about opening Out on Film with a first – a film for the ladies and then a film for the men, although anyone can enjoy either one of our opening night films,” said Jim Farmer, festival director of Out On Film, in a press release issued today.
