The owner of a LaGrange, Ga., gas station and convenience store has had enough of men in saggy pants coming into his store and no longer wants to serve them. So he posted a sign on the front door and inside the store warning men in certain attire—and must obviously be “fags,” he says—won’t be able to buy a pack of smokes or a soda from him.
Yes. The old name-calling technique. Being called a fag is sure to keep guys with saggy pants from coming into this run-down shop. (We verified the word was ‘fag’ with a source close to the story who asked not to be identified.)
In a WSB-TV report, some of the store’s customers said they were shocked to see the slur in so many signs at the store. However, a gay clerk at the store said she’s not offended at all by it.
“I came up with that sign, nobody else did,” Anil Patel, owner of PCA Food Store on Hogansville Road, told WSB. “Since that sign went up there, I don’t see no pants down in my store, because they read the sign and they decide what they want to be.”
“It really offends me by them coming in, pants down. So it is not that I’m against them, gay people or anything like that, but just trying to prove a point. If you are going to come in my store, make sure you have your pants on,” Patel told WSB’s Rachel Stockman.
And what point are you trying to prove with name calling? Sigh.
