Sonia Leigh joins Taylor Dane as Atlanta Pride headliners

Singer-songwriter Sonia Leigh will headline Atlanta Pride’s main stage on Sunday, Oct. 13, the Atlanta Pride Committee announced today, while Taylor Dane anchors the Pride stage on Saturday, Oct. 12.

“Since she grew up in Atlanta and started her career here, Sonia is no stranger to local fans,” said Buck Cooke, Atlanta Pride executive director.

“It was a thrill for me to watch Sonia as she opened for Loretta Lynn last year on Loretta’s tour. I was so excited to have an out artist from Atlanta on that tour opening for the queen of country music,” Cooke said. “That was great exposure for her as an artist and we are happy to feature this rising star during our festival.”

Leigh, who is gay, is well known in the Atlanta music scene. She has collaborated with Zac Brown, who she considers a mentor, as well as Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray. Her current album is “1978 December.”

“While we love bringing talent from across the nation and even across the globe, Atlanta Pride also loves to spotlight homegrown Atlanta artists, whether they are just starting out or have a lengthy career or anywhere in between,” Cooke said.

Last week, Atlanta Pride announced that pop singer Taylor Dayne, best known for her 1987 hit “Tell It To My Heart,” will headline Saturday’s stage.
