Atlanta's Piedmont Park opened the Legacy Fountain today, the newest addition to a growing list of recently completed expansions.
According to the Piedmont Park Conservancy, the Legacy Fountain features more than 70 jets of water that can shoot streams of water some 30 feet into the air. The fountain also features an LED lighting system capable of producing thousands of display patterns. The Conservancy says the fountain will rival the one in Centennial Olympic Park.
The fountain is located near the Monroe Drive entrance.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was on hand for the official unveiling today and congratulated the park via Twitter: “Congratulations Piedmont Park Conservancy for launching the Legacy Fountain today."
New facilities in the park include three acres of hardwood forest, additional basketball courts, a new aquatic center and an expanded dog park.
