USWNT tickets go on sale

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team will host an international friendly against China on Oct. 2 at Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium, home to professional women’s team Atlanta Beat. Tickets for the game go on sale today at 10 a.m.

The USWNT will play two games against China before heading to Mexico for a qualifying tournament for the 2011 Women’s World Cup.

This marks the first time in more than 10 years that the U.S. women will play in Atlanta.

“There’s a commitment in Atlanta and at Kennesaw to grow soccer and especially the women’s game and that’s easily seen with the construction of this stadium and the support of the fans for the Beat,” said U.S. and Atlanta Beat goalkeeper Hope Solo in a press release. “To get quality international games before World Cup qualifying is extremely valuable and it’s great that the fans in Atlanta can come to see the national team in the premier women’s soccer facility in the country.”

The USWNT is ranked number one in the world, according to FIFA, soccer’s governing body. China is ranked 14th.
