Last night’s Primetime Emmy awards showcased several gay and lesbian characters and shows.

Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester on Fox’s hit show “Glee,” won her first Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Lynch gave a wonderful acceptance speech where she thanked her wife, Lara Embry. Check out a video of her speech below:

“Glee” also won the Emmy for Directing in a Comedy Series.

ABC’s “Modern Family” features gay dads Cameron Tucker, played by Eric Stonestreet, and Mitchell Pritchett, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Both actors were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, but it was Stonestreet who eventually came away with the honor. “Modern Family” also beat out “Glee” to win the Emmy for Best Comedy Series.

“Top Chef” took home the top prize for Best Reality Competition Program, while Betty White received the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
