Atlanta Freedom Bands goes to France for Saturday concert

‘Viva la France!’

The Atlanta Freedom Bands will host the “Viva la France” concert Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Saint Mark United Methodist. Music from notable French composers will be highlighted. AFB will honor Claude Debussy’s 150th birthday during the concert, as well. Debussy’s birthday is the inspiration behind the concert.

A list of songs to be performed:

“La Marseillaise” by Rouget de Lisle (an audience sing-a-long)
“Ouverture Triomphale” by Serge Lancen
“Military Symphony in F” by François Gossec
“Suite Française” by Darius Mihauld
“Grand Chœur Dialogué” by Eugene Gigout (for brass quintet and organ)
Overture to “La Belle Helene” by Jaques Offenbach
“Girl with the Flaxen Hair” by Claude Debussy
“French National Défilé March” by Andre Turlet
“Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint Saëns
“Can Can” from “Orpheus in the Underworld” by Jacques Offenbach
