Atlanta Eagle gay bar targeted by burglars

Atlanta Eagle victim of overnight burglary

The Atlanta Eagle was the victim of an overnight burglary, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Only a few bottles of liquor were taken during the break-in, the AJC reported.

Atlanta police spokesman Curtis Davenport told the AJC that someone entered the Atlanta Eagle bar through an exhaust fan on the roof, “and took three bottles of liquor.”

In December, a civil lawsuit between patrons of the Atlanta Eagle and the City of Atlanta over the botched 2009 raid was settled to the tune of $1.025 million. Police were accused of illegally detaining the patrons, searching them without warrants and using anti-gay slurs during the raid. The settlement also included reforms to the police department.
