Meet the Best of Atlanta 2019 Winners: Services

Here at the Georgia Voice, we love celebrating the BEST that Atlanta has to offer, especially when it comes to servicing our LGBTQ community!

The more than 70 categories below highlight what makes Atlanta the top LGBTQ-friendly city in the country with food, nightlife, services, events, and pet care that cater to our community.

Long have we searched for a city where inclusion is part of everyday life, and no matter where we frequent, we’re given the same respect as our hetero counterparts!

We give a big thank you and congratulations to the winners and runners-up in this year’s awards line-up for emphasizing equality for our Atlanta LGBTQ siblings!

PHARMACY: ALLIANCE COMMUNITY PHARMACY

Alliance takes home the Best Of award for the second year in a row, making it the go-to spot for pharmaceutical services, Medicare counseling, and immunizations. The Midtown pharmacy has been serving the Atlanta LGBTQ community since 2013 and has since partnered with MISTER and Positive Impact Health Center to provide free, confidential HIV-testing services to members of the community. Look for counseling services as well for those in need!

Runners-up are CVS at Ansley Mall and Avita Pharmacy

 

LGBTQ CARE: POSITIVE IMPACT

Positive Impact Health Centers provides HIV specialty care and support services, behavioral health including substance abuse treatment, HIV testing, and prevention services. In addition, the center puts on the Atlanta AIDS Walk annually to raise money for its locations in Decatur, Duluth, and Marietta. Positive Impact is not a stranger to Best Of awards, winning in 2017’s Best Of for HIV/AIDS non-profit!

Runners-up are Absolute Care and AIDS Healthcare Foundation

 

GYM: LA FITNESS AT ANSLEY MALL

One of the gayest gyms in the Southeast according to some locals, and it’s why LA Fitness at Ansley Mall has won Best Of for a consecutive four years! Muscle men, short shorts, and tight tank tops give you a lot to gaze at while working on your fitness. There are more than a dozen locations across the Atlanta metro with a large number of LGBTQ clientele. From heated pools and basketball courts to aerobics and spin classes, this gym franchise gives you the best bang for your buck!

Runners-up are Gravity Fitness and Urban Body Fitness

 

HAIR SALON: HELMET HAIRWORX

Located just feet from 10th Street and Piedmont Road, and Piedmont Park, Helmet Hairworx is the go-to spot for many in the LGBTQ community! With more than a dozen hair stylists, there’s never a long wait to get a fresh, new ’do! Owner and local photographer, Randy Addison, opened up shop in 2003. Since then, he’s grown his brand in two locations (Midtown and Virginia Highlands) and continues to create client confidence with every haircut his stylists give!

Runners-up are Blo Salon and Company T Barbershop

 

SPA: JEJU KOREAN SPA

A popular spot for tourists and locals who want to spend the day relaxing with a book in hand or meditating. The spa includes separate nude wet areas for men and women, and a coed space with a handful of different saunas including salt, gold and silver, cool, charcoal, and more. Guests are also able to schedule massages, use the facilities small fitness center, and dine at JeJu’s authentic Korean restaurant inside. A full-day pass costs only $30, with additional services at an extra price.

HOTEL: LOEWS HOTELS

This upscale Midtown hotel rises into the Atlanta skyline with beautiful views and a pool/lounge area with luxurious amenities. There’s a stylish restaurant and bar, plus an upscale market. A gym, spa, 24-hour business center, and 40,000 sq ft. conference space makes this hotel the perfect spot for corporate events or just a quick getaway from reality!

 

Runners-up are W Midtown and Georgian Terrace

 

EVENT SPACE: THE GEORGIAN TERRACE

The Midtown icon is famous for its Beaux-Arts architectural style and luxury accommodations. To add to its elegant draw, the hotel has a long legacy of film connections. Films like 1974’s “Cockfighter,” “Identity Thief,” “The Change-Up,” and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” all used the hotel as a filming location. The hotel also offers everything from modern suites and versatile event spaces to an award-winning restaurant sure to liven up your tastebuds.
