On Sunday, December 9, Positive Impact Health Centers will be hosting Party with Impact, a fundraiser and body-painting extravaganza.
The event will be at Summerour Studio at 7 P.M. and will feature a live body painting demonstration by Joseph Titus Davis, a professional body artist, as well as an open bar, music, food by Endive catering, and a silent auction.
Davis will kick off his painting at the start of the event and will have the model fully painted by the end. Other fully-painted models will be walking the event, as well.
Davis has dedicated the last five years to practice professional body art. He has been trained and painted alongside some of the best body artists in Atlanta, including Stephanie Anderson and Roberto Hernandez.
The artist has also competed and placed in multiple body art competitions, like “PMAC,” where he placed second two years in a row; “Battle of the Bodies,” where he also received second place; and Drag Con’s “Battle of the Comics,” where he placed third.
“The truest expression of self is being able to use my experiences as a tool of healing when painting,” he said of the art form. “No judgment resides in this expression because of how personal it becomes. I am able to grow and even connect to others who may feel the same or have a hard time moving through their own emotional feelings.”
The event will raise money for HIV/AIDS medical care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, and HIV prevention and testing in the community.
Positive Impact Health Centers’ mission is to provide client-centered care to the HIV community to have a life worth loving. In 2017 alone, the agency provided medical care to over 1600 patients, conducted 6000 visits in the mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, and conducted over 5800 HIV tests. They have two centers in Duluth and Decatur and serve the 20-county metro Atlanta area.
