Cliteratic Open No Mic, now in its 11th year, brings the best in local and featured spoken word artists to Charis Books & More each month.
Tonight’s special guests are Alice Shindelar of Minneapolis and activist, educator and poet Tristan Silverman.
Shindelar is a recepient of the 2010 Jerome Foundation VERVE Spoken Word grant awarded by Intermedia Arts, the only spoken word grant in the U.S. She also hosts a bi-weekly workshop, “Talk Story Salon,” for poets, storytellers, emcees and performance-based writers. You can also see her work as a volunteer editor for the erotica magazine, Whole Beast Rag.
Silverman “occupies the space where gender, sexuality, Judaism, and art converge. Trained as a documentary filmmaker, screenwriter, and novelist, [his] poetry addresses the humanness of flaw, the fluidity of identity, and the reality of coming of age queer and American.”
