The Atlanta stop of the Key West Cocktail Classic occurred recently where six of the city’s LGBT bartenders competed to win an all-expense paid trip to Key West for the finale of the third annual event. Coming out on top? F.R.O.G.S.’ own Thuy Nguyen (pictured above, center).
The event, sponsored by Stoli Vodka and the Key West Business Guild and hosted by Stoli’s national LGBT ambassador Patrik Gallineaux and draq queen Kitty LeClaw, took place at TEN Atlanta and included a presentation by each bartender as they mixed their special cocktail. The cocktails were then assessed on a variety of factors by the judges panel, which included LaToya London of “American Idol” fame, One Flew South mixologist Tiffanie Barriere and Georgia Voice’s own Patrick Saunders. And following the judging, the audience was treated to a performance from London, who announced that she will be singing alongside Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia Barrino on the “American Idol” series finale.
Nguyen’s drink, which she called “The Gogo Juice,” was the winner and she will now compete against other regional winners during finale week on June 8 – 12 where she has a chance to win $10,000 for her charity (Lost-n-Found Youth), a spot leading the 2016 Key West Pride Parade as honorary grand marshal and an all-expense paid trip to Ibiza, Spain.
