You can get those same green tomatoes as a BLT with the pimento cheese on challah. All my Southern favorites in a sandwich.

Want something sweet to start your day? Try the decadent banana challah bread French toast drizzled with a caramel banana sauce. For only $6.25 you can have a huge Blue Plate breakfast with eggs, sausage, grits and a biscuit.

Did you party too hard and sleep the day away? You’re in luck: West Egg serves breakfast all day and an excellent dinner. I tried one of my favorite spinach salads with bacon, goat cheese, and a warm bacon dressing. My partner got the old school southern classic Country Captain, which is a chicken and tomato curry stew served on coconut rice — perfect for chilly nights. There’s also a bakery that turns out fierce red velvet cupcakes.

This is a chef-driven West Midtown gem with excellent food and good prices.

Do you love Chick-fil-A but disagree with Truett Cathy’s conservative Southern Baptist politics? Well, I found a way to satisfy your craving. Only for Saturday breakfast, Noon Midtown serves The Stack. It’s a juicy breast of fried chicken served on a light, fluffy homemade biscuit with bacon, melted cheddar and a sausage gravy drizzle. You’ll need a nap afterward.

During the week Noon offers upscale sandwiches and grilled paninis like roast kobe beef and grilled eggplant with goat cheese. Noon, on Crescent Avenue, has a patio that’s not on a very busy street and perfect if the day is sunny and nice.

I’ve been trying to go Hob Nob on Monroe but the wait has been over an hour so we finally scored late night. Hob Nob is an upscale tavern with excellent fare. We got the sampler with a soft, fresh-baked pretzel with warm beer cheese dip, and crispy southern spring rolls with roasted pork and zippy collards greens. Then we split the inventive roasted pear salad with blue cheese and prosciutto.

For a special occasion try the glamorous Canoe. This is one of the top brunch patios in Atlanta because instead of a street view, you sit by the tranquil Chattahoochee. We had a Charleston-like she crab soup and a devilish Georgia ocean sticky bun.
