The Dark Crystal Netflix Prequel Has Tons of LGBTQ Inclusion

Netflix’s new prequel series to the classic 1982 film The Dark Crystal features a main character with two dads and a lesbian relationship, according to Out Magazine.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, described as Game of Thrones with puppets,” features a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Taron Egerton, Helena Bonham Carter, and Eddie Izzard. Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel is also in the series, playing one of the Gelflings, Deet.

Deet casually refers to her two dads in one of the ten episodes of the series, and The Dark Crystal official Twitter account confirmed the inclusion after a Twitter user pointed out the LGBTQ family.

Deet’s dads aren’t the only LGBTQ inclusion the show has to offer. While this inclusion was much subtler, Onica, voiced by Thrones star Natalie Dormer, and Tavra, voiced by Caitriona Balfe, are reportedly in a lesbian relationship, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Fans reacted positively to both the two dads and lesbian relationship on Twitter, saying the show had “Lesbian Energy.”
