It promises to be a lively conversation when two great Atlanta minds and writers come together for “Conversations on Art and Activism” tonight at the Auburn Avenue Research Library.
Lesbian poet Nikky Finney will read from her new collection of poetry, “Head Off & Split,” and Pearl Cleage, author of the new, funny novel set in Atlanta’s West End titled “Just Wanna Testify” will read from and discuss their works in an event sponsored by Charis Books & More, Charis Circle, Auburn Avenue Research Library and ZAMI NOBLA, an organization for black lesbians over 40.
Cleage and Finney invite participants to listen to their discussion following the readings about the “role of the writer in the larger world.”
The event is co-sponsored by: All My Children, Women Healing Women, YouthPride, SisterSong, SisterLove, Women’s Resource Center, Queer and Atheist, Mondo Homo, Queer Progressive Agenda, Southerners on New Ground, SPARK Reproductive Justice, TILTT: Transgender Individuals Living Their Truth, Purple Galaxy, Black Out, Feminist Women’s Health Center, Men Stopping Violence, and Juxtapose Center for Transformation Inc.
