Stars like Billy Porter, Melissa Etheridge, Katy Perry, Kim Petras, Adam Lambert, and Ricky Martin will be headlining in “Can’t Cancel Pride,” a new virtual fundraiser to raise visibility and money for the LGBTQ community.
The one-hour special, produced by iHeartMedia and Procter & Gamble, will be hosted by transgender actress Laverne Cox and iHeartRadio’s Elvis Duran. The event will address issues faced by the LGBTQ community—including an increased risk of being disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the Trump administration’s recent move to kill transgender protections in health care—and will work to raise a goal of $5 million for slew of LGBTQ organizations, including The Trevor Project, SAGE, and GLAAD.
“The [pandemic] has exposed the complex and significant obstacles facing the LGBTQ community,” said Marc Pritchard, Procter & Gamble’s chief brand officer. “We must continue to fight hate and intolerance against all people while redoubling our efforts to elevate LGBTQ visibility and provide support for those in need.”
