Marvel Confirms LGBTQ Storyline for Valkyrie

After talk from multiple Marvel Studios executives about an LGBTQ hero, it has finally been revealed that Valkyrie will have an LGBTQ storyline in the upcoming Thor film.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Valkyrie – played by bisexual actress Tessa Thompson – will be taking on the role of leader of New Asgard and may even find love. Thompson teased a possible same-sex romance at the San Diego Comic Con.

“As new king, she needs to find her queen,” she said. “That will be her first order of business. She has some ideas. Keep you posted.”

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed this teaser when asked by io9 if Valkyrie will have an LGBTQ storyline.

“The answer is yes,” Feige said. “How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just Thor 4.”

Not only is Valkyrie confirmed to be LGBTQ, but fans can expect more LGBTQ heroes in the future as well.

“We haven’t been shy about saying that that’s coming and that there’s much more prominent LGBTQ heroes in the future,” said Feige.
