Out Front Announces 2021-2022 Schedule

After more than a year of offering digital streaming content, Out Front Theatre Company is returning with in-person performances for the 2021-2022. The LGBTQ theatre just announced the schedule for this season, which includes camp musical “Xanadu” and “The Golden Girls: The Lost Episodes – Holiday Edition.”

“We are a very fortunate company to have made it through the last year, and we’re very excited to have the opportunity to return to the stage this season,” Paul Conroy, the founder and Producing Artistic Director of Out Front, said in a press release. “The Out Front team spent the last year-and-a-half to improve on what we do best, and this upcoming season is the result of that hard work. We are still a young company, but that makes us scrappy and ready to think outside the box on how we tell stories.”

The full 2021-22 schedule includes the following:

Xanadu

October 21 – November 14, 2021

Xanadu follows the journey of Greek muse Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California, in the year 1980. She’s on a quest to inspire struggling artist Sonny to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time: the first ROLLER DISCO! But when she falls into forbidden love with the mortal, her sisters take advantage of the situation – and chaos abounds.

The Golden Girls: The Lost Episodes – Holiday Edition

December 10 – 19, 2021

Celebrate the holiday season in Miami with Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia as they star in a this brand-new hilarious show. Dress up as one of your favorite gals and watch as they fill you with the spirit of the season and leave you aching from laughter.

All the Natalie Portmans

February 3 – 19, 2022

Sixteen-year-old Keyonna and her older brother Samuel live on the brink of eviction. Too smart, “too gay,” and too lonely to fit in, Keyonna escapes her life into an imaginary world of rom coms, red carpets, and the iconic characters played by her inspiration, Natalie Portman. But when all the Natalies start to talk back, Keyonna has to face her off-screen drama.

When We Last Flew

March 17 – April 2, 2022

After stealing his local library’s only copy of Angels in America, misfit teen Paul locks himself in the bathroom to begin reading the play. He soon learns that his life and the lives of those around him in his small Kansas suburb are about to take flight.

Homos, Or Everyone in America

May 5 – 21, 2022

Told through interweaving glimpses into the life of an everyday couple unexpectedly confronted by a vicious crime, this play is a fearless, funny, and honest examination of the moments that bring people together – or tear them apart. This show asks the question: What does it mean to be in a committed relationship?

Season tickets for the 2021-2022 season are now available and include a flex-pass option for patrons to purchase up to three shows in one package. Single tickets are also available. Along with the lineup of shows coming to the stage later this year and next, Out Front also has more events and plans for the theatre, including a drag bingo, poetry nights, cabaret performances, a first-of-its-kind youth education program, and more!
