If you like good food and like watching TV about good food, then be sure to tune in tonight to the Learning Channel’s “Best Food Ever” series narrated by that foodie of all foodies, John Goodman.
Tonight’s broadcast is special because it features Atlanta’s own Ria’s Bluebird riasbluebird.com as one of the “Best Darn Diners.” Owned by Ria Pell, queer activist and one of the city’s chief chefs, Ria’s Bluebird has long been a favorite of straight and LGBT folk in Atlanta, and those visiting our fair city, who chow down on such specialties as the Brisket Breakfast, Country Fried Tempeh or Rosemary Chicken Salad.
The Learning Channel describes tonight’s episode like this: “’Best Food Ever: Darn Good Diners’ takes viewers on a cross-country tour of America’s extraordinary diner food. From the perfect Greek chicken plate to a colossal 12-egg omelet, it’s sure to leave viewers craving America’s best diner delights!”
The show will count down the top ten “Best Darn Diners” tonight — including interviews with the chefs, employees and patrons — to find out what makes places like Ria’s so yummy.
Ria’s Bluebird didn’t just fall off the turnip truck when it comes to being in the national spotlight. The breakfast and lunch restaurant has been featured on the Food Network and in the New York Times.
Pell recently opened Sauced www.saucedatlanta.com on Edgewood Avenue as well.
Ria’s Bluebird staff will be watching the show at its neighbor restaurant, Six Feet Under, beginning at 9 p.m., and are inviting friends to come watch with them. The show airs at 10 p.m.
