Filmmaker Lance Forrest will discuss his take on how HIV impacts five African-American men

‘Epidemic Chronicles’ comes to Outwrite

Forrest visits Outwrite at 2 p.m. today to celebrate the DVD release of “Epidemic Chronicles,” which has screened several times in Atlanta.

The film explores the lives of five African-American men — described as “a single father, a personal trainer, an engineer, a college student, and a hustler” — who all contract HIV from the same man.

“Although there is improvement in the quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS due to advancements in medical research and medicines,” Forrest says in a statement about the film, “we must continue to support our communities through advocacy, education, and prevention in order to reduce and ultimately eradicate HIV/AIDS.”

The Outwrite event is free and open to the public.
