LGBT activists seek more funding for AIDS Drug Assistance Program

Georgia Equality lobbies under the Gold Dome

Join Georgia Equality at the state Capitol today, urging lawmakers to add enough funding to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program to eliminate the current waiting list for those who have no insurance to purchase life saving drugs. The waiting list was implemented in July and since then more than 950 people with HIV/AIDS are now on the waiting list. Advocates will also tell legislators about the need for more HIV prevention strategies as well as more services in rural communities.

The lobby day is part of Georgia AIDSWatch. People living with HIV/AIDS, their families, friends, care providers, and other advocates are visiting Georgia lawmakers to share their stories as well as speak out for the 50,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Georgia.
