It’s the reason sports broadcasters don’t use words like “sissy” and “girly” anymore. It’s offensive to imply that someone is less of a man, less of a person, because they enjoy something you don’t. In this case, replace the word “bruhs” with the word “men” and the message gets a little clearer.
Questioning someone’s manhood, especially over their underwear preference, reads just like the code.
GLAAD says that Martin has a history of using choice words regarding LGBT people. The organization highlights his recent defense of comedian Tracy Morgan, who said if he had a gay son, he would “stab him.” Morgan later apologized for the remark, but Martin defended the comment, saying that comedians shouldn’t have to apologize anytime they may offend someone.
GLAAD is calling for Martin to be fired from CNN and has set up a petition to the network on its website. For more information, click here.
