HIV-positive Augusta man charged with molesting teen boy

“It evolved because of the relationship the victim had with the defendant, not because of the band,” said Richmond County Sheriff Investigator Mark Dobbins.

The Augusta Chronicle said the victim’s parents became wary of the relationship between their son and Dobbins and confronted McCauley about it. McCauley eventually told them he did have inappropriate contact with the teen.

The parent’s were also concerned because they knew McCauley was HIV-positive, the newspaper reported. The boy did not know McCauley was HIV-positive.

According to the Richmond Sheriff’s Office, McCauley and the teen engaged in sexual acts four times over the past two months.

An investigation is ongoing.
