UPDATED: Melissa Carter joins B98.5 as new morning host

Carter said the opportunity was the perfect fit for her. Having her own morning show has always been a goal in mind.

“The first day on-air will be Wednesday,” she added. “Katie Jo [Carter’s partner] had a joke today. She said she feels like school is about to start. One more night of getting to stay up late and do what I want to do.”

As for what listeners should expect from the new morning show, Carter said much of the show’s content will be impromptu.

“Each day will depend on what’s happening. We want to make sure are comfortable place for people to come and have a conversation. That really just depends on what happens the day before, the night before or the morning of,” she said.

Carter, who was the first openly gay person on Atlanta’s radio airwaves, is perhaps best known for her 10 year stint on Q100’s “The Bert Show” from 2001 to 2011.

She retired from “The Bert Show” and took a year off before deciding to join all news 106.7 as an afternoon anchor in July 2012.
