2021 Global LGBTQ Travel and Tourism Convention to be Held in Atlanta

The International LGBTQ Travel Association (IGLTA) has selected Atlanta as the host city for its 38th Annual Global Convention for 2021.

The Global Convention is the world’s premier education and networking event for LGBTQ tourism professionals. The 37th edition of the convention will be hosted in Milan, Italy, next May. The IGLTA chooses host cities based on an extensive bidding process,a s well as a consideration of the association’s diverse membership and the city’s support for LGBTQ tourism. This is the first time Atlanta has hosted the convention.

“Atlanta delivers a blend of Southern  hospitality and urban sophistication that sets the stage for a successful, welcoming conference,” IGLTA Board Chair Jon Munoz said in a press release. “Our global delegates that have not yet experienced Atlanta’s vibrant LGBTQ community are in for a treat, and the venues the city has selected to showcase are truly world class.”

The convention will be held on May 5-8, 2021. The opening night reception, sponsored by the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be at the Georgia Aquarium.

“On behalf of Atlanta’s entire hospitality community, we are thrilled to host the 2021 IGLTA Global Convention and welcome attendees from across the world,” said William Pates, the President and CEO of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Atlanta is a progressive and inclusive city, and hosting this international event will allow us to showcase what makes it a fantastic destination for LGBTQ travelers.”
