Atlanta author Collin Kelley will read from his new novel “Remain In Light” tonight at the Decatur Library. Kelley will also sign copies of his newest book and will read from another novel, “Conquering Venus,” as well.
“I’m a writer who happens to be gay. I’ve never understood the whole ‘gay writer’ tag,” Collin told GA Voice when “Remain In Light” was first released. “Is a ‘gay writer’ someone who strictly writes about LGTBQ characters and situations? If I write about straight people am I suddenly not a ‘gay writer?
“It’s a semantics thing, but I also think it’s lazy shorthand that got foisted on LGBTQ writers by the publishing world and the media,” he added.
Kelley’s novel “Remain In Light” is up for the prestigious Townsend Prize for Fiction.
The reading will start at 7:15 a.m. For more information, please visit http://collinkelley.blogspot.com.
