Atlanta Eagle endorses Waites; denies her claim that Fulton opponent tried to tear down sign

Ramey could not be reached for comment.

Kelley said Waites also came to the bar last week for its karaoke night.

“She was nice enough to help Richard and he approved her putting the poster on the bar,” Kelley said.

The bar is also backing Shelitha Robertson for Fulton County Superior Court Judge.

Kelley said that was an easy endorsement to make because Robertson was instrumental in getting the eight employees of the bar out of jail fairly quickly after they were arrested in a botched raid by the Atlanta Police Department Sept. 10, 2009. Robertson’s election is Nov. 2.

Last year, the Atlanta Eagle also endorsed Miguel Gallegos in the Atlanta City Council District 6 race, eventually won by Alex Wan.

On her Facebook page, Waites claims Garner tried to rip down her sign on the Atlanta Eagle’s wall.

“I would like to say thank you to the Eagle Night Club for allowing me to put my sign on there [sic] building. I am deeply hurt that my opponent would try to tear this down from the building. This is very awful for anyone to do this,” Waites wrote on her Facebook page.

Kelley said the claim that someone tried to tear down the sign was not true.

“That was the wind,” he said.
