Atlanta Pride will once again kick off the annual fest with an opening night party at the Georgia Aquarium.
The party, set for Friday, Oct. 9, will be followed by the weekend of events and entertainment at Piedmont Park on Oct. 10-11. Two weeks ago, the Atlanta Pride Committee announced 12 grand marshals will lead this year’s parade on Oct. 11.
This is the sixth year in a row Atlanta Pride’s official kickoff party has been held at the Georgia Aquarium—and organizers say it will sell out.
“There is a reason that this event sells our year after year and that is because our community enjoys coming together to have a fun time to start the Pride weekend off in the right way. That having been said, please get your tickets early because we all know this party sells out and once the tickets are gone, they’re gone,” said Pride Executive Director Buck Cooke in a statement.
DJ Brandon Moses and Atlanta favorite VJ Diablo Rojo will be providing the beats for the party.
“We are proud of the strides that the LGBT community has made, and the Kickoff Party is just one way to observe and celebrate them during the weekend’s festivities. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones at this event,” said Scott Higley, vice president of External Affairs and Government Relations for Georgia Aquarium, in a statement.
