Atlanta Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory said he “heartily” applauds the recent report from a meeting of Catholic bishops in Rome that encouraged the church to welcome gay parishioners and recognize the “positive aspects of civil unions and cohabitation,” according to a story by the AJC.

“These men and women are the sons and daughters of the church, and yet in too many cases they have not felt welcomed or respected,” Gregory said. “Surely there are ways that we can adjust our religious language so that its frequently perceived severity will not drive away those who belong to Christ and His church. We have a pastoral obligation to reach out to all men and women in the same manner that Christ did so effectively even when they found themselves outside of the religious and cultural norms of His own times.”

Naturally, the story brought out a delightful cast of characters to the AJC’s comments section, and like all posters to a story on the internet, they were up for a spirited yet civil debate using their real names and promising to get together for a latte shortly afterward.

Behold the humanity.

1. “Hey, you gays are pedophiles!”

“positive aspects of civil unions and cohabitation.”

Wow…Just …Wow!!! Well, I guess next all the gay and pedophile priest will come out the closet and be American heroes.

America and the world are going to HELL!!!

2. “No, you straights are pedophiles!”

Same old idiots who post “pedophile” comments on any gay-related topic, yet looking through the AJC news items, every week you see news posts of some heterosexual molesting children. So, who is the biggest threat to children? Hint: the FBI says it is overwhelmingly heterosexual men, typically fathers or other family members molesting young girls. Gotta love those “family values”.

The Catholic Church must use a different version of the Bible than I do. Society evolves but the Bible does not.

Yeah, there were plenty of those…

Better a “fanatic” than to go straight down after this life is over. Personally, I could not care less what you do, but it’s not my game, or yours, but a higher power. Everything you need to know about this subject in in Romans, Chapter one, starting at verse 18, and it not only applies to homosexuals, but also to those who aid and abett them, just like it says. You can follow fads or you can do the right thing. Everytime I see a post that promotes or pushes the other side, I will counter post the info and reference above. Call it what you will, but when we get upstairs the big man will call the shots and if you’ve done the wrong thing down here you’ll pay a price much higher than you will want to, once you know the true cost. Ciao, baby…

Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail

This coming from the Archbishop who has some of his own “skeletons” in his closet. I’ll just leave it at that.

10. Now this one actually makes sense.

I’m encouraged that the Catholic Church is coming to their senses! ALL people are God’s children. Not just conservatives. Not just one denomination. Didn’t Jesus preach to all who would listen? He didn’t have a membership code or other qualifiers. Remember he did call down those who judged others also.

Respect is at the core of religion. Most gays are not child molesters, just like straight men!!!! Those who do molest should be handled by our and God’s courts. But some people seem to be resentful that they don’t sit on the jury of God’s court!
