A Milledgeville church has a virulently anti-gay sign up saying that gay people should be put to death.

WGXA reports that the sign for The Ten Commandments church reads “Homosexuality is a Death Worthy Crime.”

“This is the first time that I have ever seen anything that actually crossed the line and was inferring death upon a group,” Milledgeville resident Robert Owens tells WGXA. Owens noticed the sign while riding his bike through town.

“If it said being bald or blind or short or fat or blue-eyed or red head, if any of those were death worthy crimes, if they were causing people think ‘wow those people really need to die’ that’s a terrible thing, that’s crossing line,” said Owens, who says he says he has gay and lesbian friends.

The pastor responsible for the sign claims nothing is wrong with it and referenced Leviticus 20:13 to a reporter.

“Homosexuality is an abomination, and the Bible says that homosexuality is a death worthy crime,” said Lee, who also claimed he hopes the Supreme Court is paying attention to his sign as they decide on the issue of marriage equality.

“The institution of marriage was instituted by God and it should not be changed by people who deserve not to live,” Lee told WGXA.

The beliefs of a 60yr old man won’t hurt this country unless he’s in politics. I fear the young people that listen to such propaganda using the bible as a shield.

That same book of the bible also instructs to take a disobedient child to the town square and stone them.

It’s talking about serious disobedience like striking your parents. And yes, they should be put to death.

Sounds good, while you’re at it – stone all adulterers too and the disobedient children and women who are not virgins on their wedding night

But I would not feel so all alone. Everybody must get stoned.

There is ONE unforgivable sin, and being gay isn’t it. It’s in the bible, look it up. Stop using my beautiful religion to spread hate. God’s love is for everyone. Not who YOU see fit.

1 Corinthians 9-11 states that NONE of us are fit to enter the kingdom of God until we are sanctified by the blood of Christ. As Christians, they tend to forget that included in effeminate and homosexual is covetous, adulterers, fornicators, thieves…the list goes on and on. If a murderer or pedophile can be forgiven, surely those that fit into the LGBT community can.

the sad shame is that religious leaders are pulling stuff like this out of their asses. i’m guessing this guy hasn’t spent any time in divinity school…he decided to preach, so he preaches.
this old guy (not much older than me) is calling for death for gays. you know some of his congregation are going to take that to heart. someone is going to die, at some point. it’s doubtful that anyone will take the time to follow the instigation for the crime back to this guy. i have no idea how this is not hate speech.

It’s sad that this kind of thinking goes on.
The English language bible isn’t even accurate. King James bragged about making those changes.
Leviticus is a warning that male prostitutes were as bad as female prostitutes, not a loophole in the rules against whorehouses.
In Romans, the senate believed that if they had sex with a male prostitute, their next child would be male, and they were being told that it was not true.
‘Effeminate’ was not even a concept back then. The actual words in the original text meant “the greedy self-indulgent man will not enter the gates of heaven”
The crimes that caused Sodom and Gomorrah to be destroyed, was greed, self indulgence, and wanting to have sex with ANGELS (“strange flesh”).
And everyone seems to forget the whole “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” part of the bible, as well…

Dear Pastor Lee, if you are going to quote the bible you really should learn what the original Hebrew text said. It actually said man laying with man like with a woman was ritually unclean, and was usually referring to what Hebrew men did in the temple. It did not say abomination. However, your ten commandments does say thou shall not murder, or as you interpret it, thou shall not kill.

BEWARE! The power of God is behind this guy. Even though he did not appear before the supreme court to make an argument, God has made a far stronger statement through him than anyone who did. If you are gay or a sympathizer of gays, you are on the wrong team. This guy will come out on top guaranteed. This guy was seeking your good by warning gays that God’s wrath abides against them. I suggest that all who are gay repent and turn to God and ask forgiveness of your depravity.
