“Throughout his career in nonprofit advocacy and journalism, Bill has been a vocal and dedicated ally to the LGBT community,” a press release from Georgia Equality states.

The Guiding Star Award will go to Johnny Fambro, executive director of the Central City AIDS Network and Rainbow House in Macon; and Olivia Long, executive director of AIDS Athens, will be awarded the Allen Thornell Political Advancement Award.

The Evening for Equality Awards are set for June 23 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.

The event is being held as part of the Atlanta Pride Stonewall Celebration beginning June 18 with the East Point Possums Show.
