Younger Georgia men needed for study on gay-on-gay bullying

Sure, that gay “Mean Girls” spoof was funny, but gay-on-gay bullying is a real issue, and one researcher is looking for local victims. C. Michelle Roundtree, a PhD candidate at Capella University, is directing a research study on what it’s like for a gay man to be targeted by another gay man with “relational aggression.”

Relational aggression includes spreading rumors, attacking someone’s character, shaming someone in front of their social group, or leaving a person out of social activities in order to push them out of a social group.

The eligibility requirements are pretty straightforward:

  • must be an openly gay man
  • 18-30 years old
  • be a Georgia resident with valid ID
  • must have been the object of aggression in the previous 12 months

However, you are not eligible if you are currently in contact with the wrongdoer of the relational aggression, or have been in the past six months.

If you meet the requirements, you’ll take part in a 60-90 minute face-to-face interview to talk about your experience being the object of relational aggression by another gay man, review a transcript of your interview to confirm its accuracy, then take part in a second interview by phone or in person to review the results of the study and provide feedback.
